From mid-2018 to end 2020, UNAIDS led a participatory process for the development of global targets for HIV for 2025. Technical inputs to inform the new set of targets were provided by a series of technical consultations with experts from diverse backgrounds including academia, national programmes, communities, networks of people living with HIV and UN cosponsors. This new set of global targets provide a mid-point on the path towards the 2030 SDGs and offer the opportunity for corrective action. These global targets for the AIDS response recognize that societal, service and system enablers are needed to reach the high levels of service coverage and impact, and emphasize the importance of integrating the HIV response with efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage and the SDGs. In this session, the targets will be presented and discussed by a panel of experts.
