The Global Health Sector Strategies (GHSS) on HIV, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections 2016-2021 will soon come to an end, and new strategies are needed to ensure strengthened political commitment to reach the SDG targets for these three disease areas. WHO is now developing a new GHSSs for the period 2022-2030, for consideration by the WHA in 2022. A new integrated approach is being taken that will preserve an individual strategic approach to each disease area while exploiting the synergies to be found in combatting HIV, viral hepatitis and STIs.

The format will be a short presentation followed by a discussion panel consisting of country and civil society representatives. The topics that will be covered are:

1)The GHSS progress report and new data
2)Impact of COVID on our current progress
3)New targets for 2025
4)Plans for the new GHSS to take us to 2030, including building forward in the time of COVID-19
