This satellite will examine how digital technologies can be best developed and implemented to improve the HIV continuum of care, in particular in low- and middle-income countries. It will also look beyond HIV to how emerging health technologies have the potential to transform access to global health equity and drive progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. The satellite will build on the work of the Industry Liaison Forum (ILF) of IAS – the International AIDS Society – which identified and prioritized a set of digital technological innovations, based on advances that have been made during the COVID-19 pandemic and that should be pursued vigorously now and/or in the future across the HIV prevention and care continuum. To mitigate risks and concerns, the ILF also agreed on a set of principles that all those involved in developing technologies and innovations should consider and incorporate into design, development and roll out of any digital health solutions. Discussions will be led by the IAS ILF and UNAIDS, which oversees the Health Innovation Exchange (HIEx), a vibrant and neutral facilitator that brings together innovative solutions for health, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
