A recent systemic review of trans health studies reported the very limited information about trans health outcomes outside of North and South America. In addition, there is no such research in the Pacific and many parts of Asia (Reisner et al., 2015). Inadequate data on transgender health has led to a major concern on how HIV programmes targeting transgender populations effectively design their interventions, develop programme indicators and plan for their monitoring and evaluation. This session aims to create a dialogue among academics, HIV service providers and trans community members to identify data gaps and potential studies that can advance HIV response for the trans communities in the global South. The session will also focus on how to engage the trans community in the development of health research and studies.
